Central Square, NY

Memorial Benches & Caretakers

Park Bench Memorial Program

Project Bloom with the help of the Village of Central Square has an established Park Bench Memorial Program.  This was set up in response to requests by the public to have memorial benches available for placement throughout the village.  The benches are purchased by the public, either individuals, families, youth or church groups etc and then donated to the Village of Central Square.  These benches are then placed around the community.  A brass plaque is included on each bench and is inscribed to reflect the name of your loved one.  A receipt can be issued for income tax purposes.  Memorial benches are a unique dedication to loved ones from their friends or relatives.  They provide a lasting remembrance in honor of a loved one and enhance the meaning of the benches.  The gift of a bench is also a valuable contribution to our Village which is utilized by children, youths and adults.

The benches are 6 foot long Rustic Redwood Benches with surface mount and 2’x4”slats.  The Village of Central Square will secure the benches onto a concrete slab.  Community volunteers and Project Bloom then plant and maintain the benches if so desired or your family can choose to maintain your bench.  Each bench costs about $400.00 (2004, subject to change). These benches are a great lasting way to remember that special someone for years to come and can be enjoyed by all of the people of our community.
